156 Bad rusty floorpan etc - Where to fix, help ?

I got a Alfa red 156 Selespeed 2000 seriously attacked by rust. A local garage told me it was pretty done, and in his case it seemed finished. Reading about it here it seems alot of people have fixed theyre cars up, despite having pretty bad rust problems.

The car look mint on the outside with almost no marks in the paint, even around the tyres/screens. But I quess the floor pan is pretty done as to many other 156s. The thing is that the car looks so good, even the inside, and to accept the card doomed just breaks my heart.

I have no idea what something like this might end up costing, and if I am to trust local garages? I would rather want a garage or person with experience regarding Alfas having a look at it.

I am living around Cardiff in Wales. Moved here a couple of years ago because of studying so I'm not entirely sure how your prices are and etc. So I have no idea what this might cost in the UK.

If somebody could recommend a good garage, or a handy Alfa person around South Wales it would be much appreciated!

Kind Alfa regards

For a 2000 car it'll cost far more than the its worth to fix unless you are handy with a welder!

If its just the floor it wouldn't be too bad if you strip the interior out yourself, but if it is the front wheel arches and further as well then it could be a lot more work, and quite probably not worth the expense, especially for a Selespeed.

If you're talking about costs versus value of an old Alfa then a set of tyres would be seen as a poor investment.

If you love the car and want to keep it on the road - fix it.
