GT - Dangerous fault....check yours out !!
Had a nasty scare the other night when my clutch pedal packed in - mid grear change !!....fortunately was only doing about 25 and tried to change into 3rd when the pedal just stuck mid way, I managed to force it down to the floor but then it wouldn’t come back up again leaving me free-wheeling with the car in neutral. The car came to a standstill in the middle of the road and was narrowly missed by a few cars behind me!
Eventually I was able to push the car off the road with the help of a couple of passers by – not what you’d expect from a 6week old car !!!
I called the AA and a bloke came out after about 45mins. He was doubtful he’d be able to help me as he had no knowledge of Alfa’s and never worked on a GT before. He freed the pedal up but it was obvious the clutch cable wasn’t connected properly and so still not useable. Just as he was about to leave he noticed a clip / pin on the carpet in the footwell, he picked it up then started searching around the clutch pedal and discovered when it had come loose from. He re-inserted the clip and this seemed to do the trick. He did warn me that it looked like it may come out again so best to get Alfa to look at it properly.
So GT Boys – be warned, I was lucky this happened at low speed, had this happened whilst overtaking with a lorry coming at me I probably wouldn’t be here to tell the tale !!
Next time your car is in ask them to check it just for your piece of mind !
I’ll update this thread once the dealer has looked at mine.
