Wiper Timing Issues

I have a Alfa 156 that has wiper issues.
After finishing wiping the screen it moves back up the screen a little, about 5cm.
Im wondering if this is a fault or is meant to do this, as its a little annoying.
I have a 164 that works kind of similar but when it finishes a wipe it pulls the wiper up under the bonnet. which would be a little more desirable.

Anyone have any thoughts before I start pulling things to bits and seeing what makes it tick.

probably the mechanism is slightly out of alignment on the motor, one of mine does the same. Has the motor been out for any reason (replacement)?

The wiper linkage has slipped on the motor spline.
