147 jtd 16v 150hp oil 'segregator' issue
Just recently bought this car and noticed a smell of fumes inside yesterday. Had a look and found that a hose from the oil segregator on the rear of the engine was not connected (I think this is part of the crankcase ventilation system). The hose is the one which runs across the rear of the engine, clips to the egr valve and then runs to the front of the car where it connects to the turbo intake hose. The connector on the top of the segregator appears to be similar to the type often seen in plumbing applications where the pipe is pushed into the fitting and to remove you push down on a ring and pull to release. The rubber hose is connected to a short length of what appears to be a brass coloured alloy pipe. It is this metal pipe which is inserted into the segregator. Problem is the pipe is not a very secure fit in the segregator (I can still see vapours with the pipe in place). Has anyone on here had any previous experience of such an issue?
I also noticed a small cut in the turbo to intercooler hose (not uncommon I believe) and was surprised to see quite a spray of oil in this area (I have searched the forum and see that oil in this hose etc is not unusual but I was still surprised at the amount). Could these issues be connected? Is it possible that the hose was disconnected before sale to hide an existing problem eg with the turbo?
Car appears to be driving ok. Does not appear to be excessive smoke etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
