156 2.4jtd help needed

Hi I have a 156 2.4 jtd, I was driving home the other day and the engine light came on, went red and then my car cut out and it won't start, I had it a recovered and it's been plugged into a diagnostic computer and it shows no fault codes. A mechanic looked at it and disconnected a fuel pipe from an injector and there was fuel coming through but not enough he said. I have changed the fuel filter and reset the ecu but it still won't start and engine light is still on and red. Has anyone else had this problem, is it worth replacing the injection pump or how do I test the pump. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
