Removing JTD M-Jet Engine and gearbox

Hi peeps

Im fairly confident I can do this, I have an engine hoist and axles etc. Just need a few pointers!
I am stripping my car for parts as it failed on brakes and welding and its really rusty underneath apart from that everything else is good.

I have stripped radiator, fan, battery, fuses, turbo CAT, EGR and Exhaust basically all the front. I am left mainly with the engine and gear box.

Is it best to strip gear box first? and where do I start??
Or is it best to hoist both the engine and gear box at the same time? then strip gearbox.
I really don't know where to start, I can't see where Im suppose hook my hoist up to? I think I may have to get a strap/strop to rig the engine to the hoist.

Any suggestions would be grate!

PS Anybody after parts for a 147 16v (03)

If you're scrapping the car most people would cut the front of the car off with an angle grinder/gas axe and then pull the complete drivetrain out the front.

Agreed that's the easiest.....or just jack the car well up and support on axle stands, then take the weight of the engine on your hoist/straps, remove the engine mounts, and pull the engine forward a little to clear the subframe, thenlower the engine and box to the ground and pull it out under the front cross-member.

You'll need to undo the driveshafts of course and watch out for the power steering pipes hidden behind the engine.....
