veloce is the sporty version - worth going for just so it doesn't ground over speed bumps - slightly lower, but stiffer hence less travel.
2.4 JTD sounds wounderfull, no 4pot will ever match the sound of a 5pot motor. (1.9 is tunable to 190bhp with ease, and lighter so better handling, but no nice sound)
lanch till 01. 136bhp, engine cover is totally silver - VNT25 turbo. 10 valve.
mid/late 01 onwards (01 Yplates), 140 & 150 bhp. Euro 3 engines. 10valve units, Basically the same units just different mapping. BOTH use a garret GT2256 turbo. Similar results when tuned.
03-ish onwards, 20 valve unit, 175bhp.
For me, go for or newer than 01Y, or get the 175bhp 20 valve unit. Just let the facelifts decide the car.
They fully colour coded the bumper and mirrors and facelifted the interior on the first facelift. Interior big improvement, bumpers don't really look any better.
03-ish they put new style bumpers on with modified front grille, these look more aggressive at the front and is the external facelift they should have done earlier.
All the 2.4 JTDs are good for mega miles - just bought one with 162k on the clock to replace my written off jtd which had 141k on the clock.
The 1.9s can have water pump failure which shreds the cambelt leaving the engine in need of a rebuild.
All models will suffer the same probs elsewhere, suspension bushes, anti rollbar ties etc.
jtds eat tyres.
