Front left strange knocking
Car: 156 1.9 16v jtd
Problem appeared after a gearbox replacement ( I ran 100km without oil in it, grinding noises galore).
Symptoms: metallic friction like noises on the left side during full throttle acceleratio 1st 2nd gears. Felt in the steering and pedals. Knocking on [b]rebound[\b], on short and steep holes. No noises on bumps or holes with small gradient. During sort of bumpy left corners, grinding noise, knocking on the left upper side, somehow you can feel the bumps in the steering wheel. The feeling is like the pedals and the steering column are not well attached.
Drop links: new
Antiroll bar bushes: new (tested with the car on the ground, no play whatsoever)
Trackrods, steering links: new
Tried with another spring/damper/flange: same noise.
Tried with another upper A arm: same noise.
Wheelbearing: good shape, no play
Transmision shaft: A OK, no noises
Engine mounts: fair condition, I will change them for good measure.
The irony is that before the gearbox was replaced, the A arms were a wreck, vibration during braking, pudding like steering but NOT ONE damn knock.
