Second beep after locking

My mate has a 2000 W 156 and when you lock it you get the long beep and then another beep a couple of seconds after. I thought it was perhaps the battery going in the remote but he thinks not. Nothing in the handbook, any ideas?

Re: Second beep after locking

mine only does this if a door isnt closed properly, could be a faulty door switch

Re: Second beep after locking

i agree with harrythesnotgobbler check door bonnet and boot sensors, there is a break in the sensor circuit somewhere the second beep is there to tell you a door, bonnet or boot is still open

Re: Second beep after locking

Mine does this if you hold down on the button a little longer than usual..

Don't quote me but I think its an option to have the alarm work but the windows open...(disables motion sensor)..

I have not tried whether thats the case..so will have to give it a go.

Re: Second beep after locking

I get this in hot weather. I think it is one of the motion sensors that doesn't like warm temperatures. Park the car in a shady spot, let the internal temp equalize with the external by leaving the door open for a bit. Close the door after a minute or two and then try and set the alarm again.

Confirmed. I get this also. Just whack up the aircon with all windows open for a minute or two before you close up and all will be well.

Re: Second beep after locking

This happened to me only once, and it was because the boot was popped.

So if all the doors, incl boot are propperly closed then it would suggest a sensor is giving an incorrect reading. Although I assume it would also show on the dashboard display as an open door!

Re: Second beep after locking

Yep, I get this once or twice per week - one extra beep on locking the car.
Even after I've checked all the doors, boot and bonnet
Had this problem from new and nobody yet has been able to fix it
Not good for an insurance claim if the alarm/immobiliser aint activating

buggered sensor - heat might cause expansion fo something so it only senses not closed when hot.

Thumbs Up Re: Second beep after locking

I also get this some times, but in my case it seems to be the boot or driver's door wanting me to give it a bit more attention. If I haven't had the boot open I just go back and open and close the Driver's door again (I put it down to a bit of miss-shape in the seal). The boot in the other hand just needs a bit more downforce when closing.

In both cases when I re try I only get one long beep and all is well.

Re: Second beep after locking

Just for info, is it the oem Alfa alarm, or was another fitted afterwards ? If the latter, then the number of beeps is set when the alarm is installed..
