Hmmm Airbag change

Just out of curiousity... for those of you who bought the first lots of the 156, next year would be the 156s 10th anniversary. Now, knowing that the airbags lasts for only 10 years, it is usually recommended to have them changed by the 'due' date, which is usually stated on a sticker.

Has anyone thought about this and would you bother? In fact, has anyone changed their "expired" airbags?

Re: Airbag change

The ones on my GTV are due to be replaced next year. Seeing as how the airbag light is always coming on anyway I won't bother changing them. Not that I would do in any case - a bit like "Best By" dates on tinned food.

Re: Airbag change

explosives decrade and become less stable over time, so they may not go off when needed, or may go off when not needed if they are left long enough

Apparently also the life of a car is not 10 years, so replacements are expensive! At least alfa ones just bolt in easily, so cars would need the dash taking out!
