[solved] 156 2004 airbag curtain squib and connectors
Hi fellow alfisti,
having an issue with the curtain airbag on my 156. The airbag light has been coming and going for the last year, and the workshop has just temporarily been able to fix it by cleaning the connectors in the boot. The airbag light comes back on rather soon, so I've stopped throwing money at them. The error has however become permanent, and it appears that I am not able to clear it just by fiddling with the connectors.
I have MES and it gives the following code:
21 - curtain airbag squib (Driver), both "shorted to Ground" and "Open circuit"
At times also error on passenger circuit.
I tried to clean both connectors with contact spray and a brush. The pins were bent slightly to improve contact and both connectors were firmly fastened with cable ties. See pictures. For the driver side the error remains and I cannot clear it, as it is 'present' after reconnecting battery and diagnosing.
All ideas highly appreciated! Are the connectors shot?
Should I try to replace them?
Any other connection points that should be checked?
Can I swap the connectors to see if the error changes side?
