I think you are a "bit" wrong here
I don't know how familiarized are you with drag races, but on a 400m race 3 cars difference is a consistent advantage and at 1.000m i manage to extend my lead to 5 cars. Regarding the cornering ability i can tell you form my experience that on a twisty race track you don't want too much torque, especially if you have a FWD car. If you are interested i can explain you why.
About the mods, the Multijet has a Turbo so it responds better when chiptuned meanwhile a 2.0 TS has a N/A engine so to get a similar power increase you have to do more mods. But even so, all the mods i have done to my car are Stage1 and they didn't cost me a fortune at all
