2004 Alfa 156 2.0 JTS Intake Manifold Questions

Hey guys, A good friend of mine had a big backfire in his 156 and it has blown a large section of the plastic intake manifold out. He has purchased another manifold but I am wondering if they can be removed with the head still in place. There only appears to be approximately 5mm between it and the airconditioning suction hose against the firewall

Fiddly but do-able. Disconnect the stabiliser bar on the offside and you may have enough rock on the engine to get it out - if not, support the engine under the sump with a jack, and unbolt the engine mount from the offside chassis leg, then gently ease the engine down until you have enough room.
