Help 156 induction/exhaust upgrades

Hi, yet another newbie here. I need some help/advice.

I have just bought a 156 1.8 TS sport 1 1998 car. I want to tweak the performance and sound a little. I don't want to go mad just a little bit more. So:

Which induction kit? I don't like pipercross as the last one i bought disintergrated repeatedly. I will be getting a tame garage to do the work. I've read somewhere that 156s don't like induction kits very much.

I will probably go for a Supersprint cat-back exhuast or possibly Remus. I've run both before on other cars with good results and no effect on reliability.

also there's a very slight whine in the background when the engine's revved. sound possibly either electrical or maybe from the electronic fuel injection. Its not noisy just there in the background. The car is low mileage with a full dealer service history. Is this something or nothing?

any help would be gratefully received!!

Re: 156 induction/exhaust upgrades

Probably the best and only worthwhile induction kit on the market is the BMC CDA (Carbon Dynamic Airbox) but it’s expensive.

A cheaper alternative is to replace the standard Twin Spark resonator box with a GTA intake and replace the air filter with a sport filter from the likes of BMC or Autodelta.

Several forum members have recently bought a performance exhaust from Cybox/Peco and been very impressed with the results.

Re: 156 induction/exhaust upgrades

I've had a Larini exhaust fitted on my GTV. I don't know if they do one for a 156 1.8, but if they do I would recommend it.
