Re: 5th Gear 6600 rpm and it is over
99,9 percent of cars are not able to hit rev limiter in the last gear.
1,6 had limiter in 7000rpm, but top power in 6200. So after 6200 rpm you are loosing power. From 6200-7000 rpm it drops to something about 105 bhp. So you can get slightly behind top power revs in top gear as well, but than the decreasing power is not able to defeat the aerodynamics. (driving downhill helps
I was able to do about 208km/h (on speedo) in 6400 rpm - should correspond be the real 195-198 more or less.
Purely mathematically the top speed is calculated to be reached during engine power output. So if Alfa says 1,6 can du 195 km/h and top power is in 6200 we can come to this:
6200/195 = 31,794.....
If you say you reached 6600revs in top gear it should be:
6600/31,794 = 207,58 km/h and your speedo is 3,45 % off
in my case I should have reached 201 km/h with speedo 3,22% off
But this is ONLY theory, each engine is different and can reach anything between 115-125 bhp somewhere between 6000-6500 revs.
