JTD 16v MJET (CF3 and CF4 question, not one that seems to have been asked before!)
So when I bought my car I had to wait over a weekend to get it. However on the saturday morning, still a bit drunk/hungover I put an excessively large max bid on a steinbauer pbox (tuning box). Long story short I won it, thankfully at significantly less than my semi-drunk self was willing to pay. However I didn't consider the fact that my car is on an MY54 reg and so is the earlier CF3 higher tax band, slightly different engine management system no swirl flaps blah blah. Badged as the JTD 16V MJET as opposed to the JTDm. Now, the box was used but doesn't say which engine it came off. I fitted it anyway with fingers crossed and after 20 miles or so the engine mangement light came on MCSF error, it also showed no difference in power on any setting, but ran fine. Anyway, I drove it for 300 or so miles with EML on but then the window broke and the car needed to go to garage to have it repaired under warranty. Off came the box, and in went the car. It came out the garage with a new EGR valve on and ran absolutely dead under 2500rpm (but no EML). After about 200 miles it started getting its power back, and right now its running lovely over the past 1000 miles. Now I know some will say leave it as it is. But I'm young and full of testosterone and need to plough myself with torque. Is it worth buying another tuning box and selling this on assuming it's a JTDm? Or should I try it again now the car is healthy and risk causing more issues?
Sorry for the lonnnng post!
