Hopefully no more squeaking soon!
As keen readers will probably notice, squeaking front area of my 147 is the bain of my life.
Read here that somebody replaced the brake caliper pins and this cured the problem.
This morning it was rattly and squaky as anything. After a few miles braking it wore off almost completely. I drove to Heath Road garage today for a service (only £35 plus vat as I supplied oil and filters!) and got them to inspect the caliper pins.
Maybe the removing and checking did something - driving home, NO MORE NOISE AT ALL! They are going to order some new pins and see what happens. Only half an hour to install, and a few quid, so, has to be worth a pop.
If it is just this I am very happy - I was thinking of new wishbones, although specialist reckons they are all fine. On the other hand, they say the caliper pins are tight, but it was checked out just after driving it there on Cheshire lanes where brake is used a lot. If I drive it on the motorway with no braking it still rattles and squeaks. Looking promising.
I will keep you posted.
