GT JTM Oil Cooler - Ouch!
Had a trip down to brighton and back at the weekend (630 miles on one tank of fuel). The next day I moved the car and found a horrendous mess of oil drips underneath. I got the car up on the jack and found the oil was leaking from the oil cooler.
I topped up the diminished oil and drove it in to Ferdis and had the discussion over using an OEM or an aftermarket. Opted for the OEM. Picked the car up and the total bill came to £820 - £239 for the matrix, £205 for the pipes and the brakes needed de-contaminating as the oil had spread along the car. New oil, filter and bolts as well.
Painful, but it could easily have taken the engine out. I struggle to understand why the matrix failed, but I guess it was corrosion and one of the pipes was definitely in a poor state at the junction with the matrix, so it would have been a false economy not to replace.
Needless to say, it's great to have her back.
