156 Windscreen Wiper Problems

Hello, I am a new member of this forum and would appreciate some help. The wipers do not work in intermittent or normal speed, they do work in high speed but do not park when they are switched off.
I have replaced the multi-function switch and have exactly the same faults using the second switch. Where is the wiper speed control located?

Re: 156 Windscreen Wiper Problems

It's the tracks inside the wiper motor that are either worn or covered in grime. You could try and open it and clean it, but I'm afraid it will only be a temporary fix.

Re: 156 Windscreen Wiper Problems

As Hoygaard says there is a problem with the Magnetti Morrelli motors fitted to 156, 145 and 146. The fact they only work on high speed and will not park means there is probably a problem with the parking plate fitted to the gear in the motor.

It's no longer making contact between the flexible fingers in the gearbox housing and the circular park plate. Grease is contaminated or the flexible fingers are worn. On high speed there is no connection through the park plate, so it will still work but not park. Worth looking at the inside of the motors housing first, probably.

If you do a search for wiper motor, grease, on 145 and 156 sections on the forum you will find a lot more posts and how to fix it.

The exact same thing happened to me a couple of months ago, it is definitely the wiper motor. Had it changed under warranty and now OK.
