Re: Speed ramps
Here's a bit of free advice for anyone who has to go over lots of speed bumps:
I had my 156 Veloce for 3 years and during that time it had to have the rear anti roll bar replaced twice and the rear drop links replaced 3 times (all under warranty I hasten to add).
The man in the know at the garage (Reg Vardy - Stockport) said I obviously go over lots of speed cushions (you know the sort - like a square pad in the middle of the carriageway). He was absolutely right - I have to go over 5 of them within half mile of leaving my house.
The secret is to NEVER, NEVER, NEVER go over them with your wheels on either side of the cushion, ALWAYS, ALWAYS (where possible) go over them with one side of the car.
It appears that these cushions put outward pressure on the bottom half of the wheels, stretching them apart and destroying your suspension. I think some compensation claims to local council are in order an we might be able to get rid of the bloody things!
