um, alot of garages do just use these!!
the only benefit of the proper aircon service is fixing any leaks, but primarily they empty the system of old refridgerant. These just top it up, and if you buy it, connect it and yours is already at the recommended pressure, then you have wasted the money. You can get seperate pressure gauges tro check.
Basically if your aircon was last serviced a year or 2 ago, and it doesn't seem to be as cold, then top it up with this stuff, and maybe top ups inbetween getting it fully drained and refilled at a garage every 4 years (i.e inbetween every other recommended 2 year point).
Think of it like this - you top your oil up every so often, but still have the garage change it fully less often - see those cans in the same light. Also they stay sealed so if you don't use it all you can keep and check pressure/top up regularly 2-3 times year to keep it always in top condition
