If you dab the brakes slightly and ther squeaking stops then it's the brake pads binding.
It may be the sliding pins, corroded slightly and sticking in their guide holes. Remove the pins, clean them off (you may have to emery them so that they move freely) then reassemble everything with some copper grease.
Also stick some copper grease on the back of the pads.
If the pins are well shot, new ones aren't toooo unreasonable at a few quid (honest!... but it solves the problem).
Don't use de-greaser as it attacks the little rubber boots etc. and while you're in there, just check that the handbrake releases cleanly too.
