New Member Question

I have owned a 99 156 1.8ts for a year now and have a problem with eratic idiling. At road end it bounces between 500 - 2000rpm sometimes stalling on me. It has become very dangerous to drive.

I have changed the MAF about 6 months ago it didn't cure it. I also changed the Lamba probe to no avail.

A friend of mine linked it up to a diag computer and the following code came up - 1173, Self adjusting Parameters.

Can any one help?

Not it has also become very very sore on petrol?

Any help?

Had the same sort of problem in my wife's BMW E30 a year or two back. Rough idle and stalling every now and then. Turned out to be a sensor than checked whether the car was idling or under power and adjusted fuel?/timing? accordingly (Sorry about the completely unmechanical terms but I'm no mechanic). Guess that's the same as the idle actuator as NiTRoGuY described
