Looking for adice and pointers although I think I know the answer - kind of anyway!
Here's the story so far:
Clutch started playing up in early July - smelling burnt.
Bought a New clutch, DMF (Just to be safe as the box was coming off anyway) from carparts4less and got local garage to fit it - all fine and dandy.
Fast forward to early Sept - Pulling away and as the car was taking up drive big THUMP! and lurched forward like i'd hit something only I hadn't
car drove fine and normal straight after for the journey to work.
This thump reoccurred several times (somedays 2 or 3 times, somedays not at all) for a couple of weeks then subsided.
For the last couple of weeks the clutch has occasionally felt spongy and when the pedal is press fully down I occasionally get a mechanical tapping noise that increases with engine speed when revved.
I know the only surefire way to eliminate things is to get the car back to the garage and get them to take the gearbox off and I also understand that I can make a claim for parts and subsequent labour to fit (again!) from cp4less if they are indeed bad but the potential expense if it turns out to not be faulty parts is making me nervous.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
