Cry Like A Baby Diagnosis anyone? 147 mjet smoking

I bought a car on the cheap with a suspected egr valve clogging.
I have now stripped egr cleaned it and replaced, i also cleaned map sensor and replaced air filter.
Now its still not performing, its not smoking on tic over its starts first time but i take it out and on low rev it struggles and is a little smoky and then when the turbo kicks in it cuffs a load of smoke and then off she goes! Engine management light came on when turbo kicked in but the light goes off and sometimes doesn't come on at all.
I know there are many threads with the same issues but sometimes different answers i would be grateful for any ideas

It's probably been driven for a considerable time in this 'smoky' condition by the previous owner.
Take it out and drive it quite hard for 30 or 40 miles using plenty of revs. This will get some heat into the exhaust and inlet tracts and help burn off the soot which will undoubtably be present.
If after doing this there is no difference to the smoky exhaust you really need to scan for DTC's.
Record and delete codes and then drive fairly hard again. Scan again for any new Codes.
If you get a new code then follow that line of enquiry. If no codes look for small leaks in the turbo high pressure pipes.... free movement of the turbo vvt mechanism etc.
When you said you cleaned the MAP sensor did you mean the AFM sensor in the air inlet pipe ?
But first of all 'rag' it for a good distance keeping it in one gear lower than you would normally use and keep an eye on your mirrors to see if the smokiness is decreasing or staying the same.
