Dump valve for 2.4JTDM

My 159 2.4 JTDM is due to arrive in 3 weeks. I ordered one after a test drive and even though it had significant turbo lag, i thought it was the dogs b0110x. I'm just wondering how limiting the lag is amd want to know if an off the shelf dump valve would sort out this problem.

Has anyone resorted to this on the 2.4 oil burner? Is it worth it? Also what are the downsides?

Also, if I install one (or get one installed at a non-alfa garage) will it void my warranty? My gut feeling is that it will.

Re: Dump valve for 2.4JTDM

Last I heard dump valves served absolutely no purpose on a diesel.

One way to get rid of the lag or at least reduce it is to have a remap....but, I'd suggest you get used to the car first, you may find the lag isn't that bad once you "learn" how to drive it.

The 2.4JTDm has e variable geometry turbo and there is no need of dump valve as far as I know.

Get use to the car, when you get to the 7000km's make a remap...

I don't think a dump valve would reduce lag anyway would it? I know it stops the turbo stalling on gear changes, but unless it actually drops off boost it won't prevent lag.

Re: Dump valve for 2.4JTDM

Dump Valve kits serve no purpose on a diesel engine because there is a lack of a vaccum for them to work, but you can buy kits for a diesel kit but this only reduces power and does not do anything specific other than haveing the pppppppppppptttttttttttiiiiiiiiisssssshhhhhhhh sound off it.

I have never heard of a dump valve reducing lag. Why not go for NOS if you want to get rid of turbo lag, and would probably be cheaper than a remap, as NOS is more effective on diesel engines.

Re: Dump valve for 2.4JTDM

Get the 1st 12k service done and then go and get that engine re-mapped. The 200bhp 2.4 should be good for 240-260 bhp.
A dump valve is useless TBH.
