Alfa romeo 147 2.0 selespeed system failure
I'm new here, and owner of my 3rd Alfa - 147 Selespeed 2.0- after a 156 2.5 V6 and a 156 2.0 Tspark.
I've seen many threads regarding the selespeed issue.
What happens with mine is that car will start sometimes with no problem, then while driving, beep beep and at the same time display "Selespeed system failure" and next "Motor control system failure". If i was in city mode, it will be kicked off, and gears will drop to 2nd, can't go back to 3rd or else. Then i usually stop the car, restart with the same fault showing on the dashboard. The car will then shift normally, with the paddles and/or stick.
The error will disappear sometimes at the next restart, sometimes it just stays there.
Took it to repair last week, they said they've cleared the fault in the main computer, but it came again after today.
This morning, couldn't move the car from 1st gear, had to get 2nd gear to get the car going, and same for reverse, i have to go hard on accelerator before the car moves. After that i could shift from 1 to 5 no probs, when i brake the car downshifts on its own no prob.
i'm thinking about taking it to another repair, would someone know if this will be the pump, the sensors, the actuator, and if it is actuator does it worth repair (cost). Also how long/far can i be driving it like that? i have to drive 25 miles/day commuting to work.
I'm in Stockport UK.
