My 159 has been hard to start, sometimes on the third attempt I have had to blip the throttle to keep it alive. Lumpy idle when cold and struggling to restart after a short trip of less than a couple of miles. Occasionally, blue clouds of smoke when starting, although no oil consumption, so presume it is just unburned diesel.
I have had glow plugs replaced, glow plug relay module, injectors reseated (new copper washers), use Shell Nitro etc. but no change.
I have tried Millers, but again no noticeable change, so today I poured in a can of BG244 and topped up the tank.
Will let you all know if I notice any difference.
I have read that BG244 works best on short journeys, i.e. does its best work dissolving carbon deposits when the engine is off and fuel is just sitting in the injectors. Sounds sensible, but who knows...
Perhaps I am just too fussy, but doesn't feel right to me, my old GT 1.9JTD never really vibrated the car while ticking over, but this 159 2.4JTD sends noticeable vibrations through the cabin when sat at the lights. That said I have been told the 5 cylinder is unbalanced.
