Wave Returning to the fold soon....

My 1st post for a year:

Had a 2000 plate 156 2.0TS for 5 years, but it had to go last year due to an 85 mile a day commute and was only getting 35mpg at a painful 65-70 MPH.
Currently have a Clio 1.5dCi (65BHP normally, now 95 - 100 BHP after Angel Tuning worked their magic on it), but am looking to get a 2001/2002 plate 156 2.4JTD Veloce for around £5000 - £6000

Questions I have:

What are the main differences between the original 156 and the newer one with the different dash?

What are the differences between the 3 different versions of the engine :- 137BHP, 140BHP and 150BHP (apart from the obvious power difference and ignoring the Multijet as I can't afford it.)

What are the cheapest mods for this engine (the remap is on the list) - is there an equivalent "V6 Intake mod"

Anyone run their Alfa on Bio-Diesel or Vege Oil?

Anyone selling a 2.4 Veloce with 50-60,000 on the clock in a dark metallic colour, no big hoop spoiler and preferably already reprogrammed , oh and had the cambelt done

Thanks for any advice

Kristian (156 2.4JTD 140BHP)

Re: Returning to the fold soon....

Hello Kristian, welcome back

I have recently changed my old 2000-reg 156 for a "big-nose" facelift version (2005-reg). In terms of the interior, I think the facelift version is far superior. It feels more spacious, you get the dual-zone climate control and the audio controls on the wheel.

On the petrol engines, the 1.6 and 1.8 are still the same TS units, but the JTS replaces the 2l TS. More low end torque, but (according to most people) the soundtrack is not as good.

I'm not so sure about the diesels engines, tho' - sorry

Good luck with your search.... let us know how you get on

Steering wheel controls is one of the things I like about the Clio - you soon get used to them and driving a car without them seems odd.
When did the facelift 1st come in?

Moon Blue looks good - very rare colour
