That sounds like fun, I remember changing the self adjuster on the clutch pedal of a mk 4 Escort once, a right pain

However, if the bite point is changing, then I reckon a new slave cylinder is the best be doubley sure, bleed the clutch, if this sorts the problem then it means air is getting the system, thus the slave cylinder seals are knackered, therefore a new cylinder is the way forward
