not sure so angry not had a chance to investigate. But pretty certain its thrown a rod through the block.
could have been a valve failure oil starvation . took it for its first run on a dual carrige way after drivining it round the town for 2 weeks with no signs of any issues and it felt like it had a coil pack going down when it got to 4000rpm then it just let go !
made a very impressive trail of smoke followed by a bang thump and a massive cloud of smoke just managed to coast it off the road into a car park.
Oil everywhere and no visable sign of what had happened. I presume it's at the back of the block as cant see anything anywhere thats visible.
I had the sump off before I fitted the engine and cleaned the sump and strainer just to be sure I had done as much as I could without completely stiping the engine and all seemed ok.
When I first fitted the engine it started first time and apart from a slight rattle before the oil got to the top end it ran smooth and left it running at idle for 15/20 mins and then revved it up when it reached temp and was fine . drove it round the carpark a few times and drove well.
Did this everyday for a week till the mot and no problem.
Always started with out any issue and ran smooth . It drove like this for 2 weeks after the mot till the day it let go . regularly checked the oil each time I drove it just to be sure (knowing the appitite they can have). Just one of those things.
