Help on fitting interior rubber around rear window on alfa 147!

Hi guys, having a terrible time trying to fit this rubber strip that goes around the top edge of my 147 window. You can see by the photo what part I mean. From what I can see the idea of it is to be attached to the metal lip above the headlining and then the headlining itself. I spent ages yesterday trying to fit it so or would be great of someone could help! Is it a job that can be done without taking the window out ?

Not sure really, but strong thin chord in the rubber groove, and maybe a light lub' with Mr.Sheen or similar?
