I am sitting in the garden at our gite near Angouleme, taking the rays and feeling smug,as one does sometimes, tomorrow, we will be going on a jolly around the area with 300 or so like minded people in their classic cars, then Sunday, into the town to watch the motor racing.
Anyway, that's not the reason for the post, I am a bit anal about fuel consumption and stuff so I thought I would share some numbers with you. My car of choice for the trip down was my trusty 156 JTS with 70k ish on the odo. Fuel consumption from Chester to Portsmouth mostly completed within speed limits, as we had plenty of time was 38.6 mpg, that's measured brim to brim, over here it dropped to 32.7mpg, the speeds were some what higher as we wanted to get down as quickly as possible. I have just checked my oil, having done 1000 Miles since it was renewed and put about a pint in to top up. Overall I am quite pleased with it so far. The only issue is that when we arrived the eml came on telling me that there was a problem with one of the cats, an issue t hat has been with the car since I bought it. It also came on again, same problem the other day, same issue, but it does not seem to have any effect on the cars performance.
Let's hope all the journeys are as stress free.
