When you turn the ASR off in 147, the button illuminates and ASR light on the dashboard should illuminate as well. Yellow light looking like a spinning wheel with some stones. I am not sure about 156 dash...

You can be happy it if works like this. My ASR kicks in very abruptly when I pull up fast. It takes all the power from the engine even by slight wheelspin. When the car moves fast, during cornering in 2nd and 3rd, it seems to work much smoother.
