... well he doesn't drive one any more as I've just bought the very same car, picking it up Wednesday.
When I went to take an initial look the salesman gave me what I thought was the usual patter "used to belong to the local MP" etc. etc. and thought nothing of it until I got back to the office and a friend pointed out that the guy had been on Top Gear. A quick Google and there was a picture of the man himself with the car!
Thought I would take a chance and drop him an email and ask him about his experience with the car, worth a punt
To his credit he wrote back the very next day and, as far as one can trust any politician (!), put my mind to rest with his report of 3 years stress free motoring. The warranty probably helped with that ...
Amusingly when I went for the actual test drive a couple of days later with a different salesman he came out with "this car used to belong to the wife of a local councillor" ... to which I had great pleasure in pointing out was a complete load of hogwash! This wasn't at an Alfa dealer I might add but I'm sure most places have the same 'techniques'.
The car's a 2006 JTDm in Alfa Red. Only thing it's lacking that I wanted is parking sensors (live on narrow road with cars both sides) which should be easy enough to get fitted. Apart from that it looks and feeld perfect, just serviced, couldn't be happier.
I never thought that I'd find a car that ticked all the boxes but I think this might be it. Just need to take care of it now
