Re: Doh! no abs
If ABS is disabled there should be a big warning sign in the info display telling you this, and an icon similar to the "ASR off" one.
Having the ABS off means that the electronic brake force distribution (EBD) is also disabled, and it is the EBD that prevents locking up the rear brakes.
You would be more likely to swap ends when braking *very* heavily without EBD.
An AO memember (Black Beauty) confirmed this to his suprise last year when he experimentally disconnected the ABS, and had some dodgy moments the next day - he reconnected the system pretty quickly.
I once had a few days without ABS, ASR and EBD when a sensor had to be replaced, and the Car felt fine - although I was being quite careful.
Rear end lock up is less likely with lowered cars though since there is much less weight transfer.
A standard 156 with the normal higher suspension would probably be more of a handful if you really had to step on the brakes in anger without EBD.
I'm not a doctor - but I really do recommend braking later
