Turbo not spooling?
Hi, i have a 147JTD which until recently ran like a dream barring not pulling below 2000 rpm, obviously the egr valve, before i got around to sorting it the car has gone into what i can only describe as limp mode ... it tops out at 60 ish.
The Engine management light isnt on.
I Was visiting the outlaws when it happened so only had limited tools ... i took the solenoid off the egr valve, this operated freely but the pin on the valve itself was solid so i worked it free,
thecar thenn pulled better from under 2000 rpm, but the turbo still didnt kick in, i then disconnected the maf annd tried it again but it was worse so reconnected the maf.
I also carried out an ecu reset just on the off chance.
I then limped home, (about 30 miles) .... the car wasnt smoking, but just as i got home it started getting noisy and on starting it earlier there was smoke on startup.
The car starts and ticks over ok, just doesnt rev above 3500-4000 and seems to have no turbo.
Firstly is it a big job to disconnect the turbo so i can check to see if it is spinning freely and doesnt have too much play?
Also, is it likely the whole egr valve needs to come off to be cleaned?
What else is likely to cause these symptoms?
Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
