My headlight washers on my 2003 2.4 JTD S/W have decided to stop working??
The windscreen washers/jets are fine, no problem, but I am getting nothing out of the headlight washers/jets.
I was under the impression that they are both operated by the same pump - is that correct? It could be a pipe off but I don't think so as it would leave a pool of water under the car, and there isn't one.
I have no idea why they have stopped BUT the battery did die on Sunday - my fault.
I decided to give the car a really good clean and left the stereo on whilst I washed/waxed/hoovered the car. It goes off after 30 seconds (a feature to stop the battery going flat . . I really should have paid attention to that then!!) so I left the ignition on .
I have the Bose stereo fitted that comes with the built in amp and sub so I think it just sucked the juice.
Now I think I committed a no no as I didn't disconnect everything to charge the battery (that would have been a mission and a half as it has all sorts of extra leads coming out of a mini junction box on top of the battery).
Is it possible I may have damaged something to do with the headlight washer pump? (thats if it isn't the same one as the windscreen). Everything else is fine or rather it is now. Once I got the car charged I started it up and first of all I got a fault saying that the oil sensor was inoperable - go to dealer (or similar message), i turned it off and re-started and it was fine (a bit like Windows these Alfas - turn them off and back on and its fine
Then on the way to work the next day I had the buzzer come on and the message "Engine Management System Failure! - go to dealer). It then went off once I changed into 4th?? and hasn't been on again.
