Re: Pads and Discs. Any suggestions
I use Black diamond cross drilled discs with Ferodo DS Performance pads on my 2.0 156. They work well and don't create clouds of dust. The discs do however have a reputation for being a little soft.
I got mine from Motorsport world an internet outfit. All in the cost was about £220. They look pretty too, the calipers on my 156 are open and show the red of the pads nicely.
They do squeel a bit in low pressure uses, like traffic jams and gentle stop start stuff.
EBC Green stuff have got a mixed reception, Ferodo DS2500 are very good but are not E marked and are therefore not road legal. Grooved discs chatter when you brake and cross drilled can crack if not kept cool. Match you discs to your pads and all will be well. So performance pads to performance discs. Performacne discs with normal pads of vica versa won't give as good on the performance front.
You'll only really notice the difference when you really brake hard, or use them hard. The very best brake performance comes from superbly clean installation and LOTS of copper grease on all sliding surfaces and the back of the pads.
