Dodgey wiring but what is this plug/sensor?

Just checking over the 156 2.0ts I bought the other day and came across some very rough wiring repair. Problem is I don't know what it's for. It's on the cambelt side of the engine and the wires look to go down behind the cambelt cover.

If I knew what it was then I could order a new one.

Photo here. Sorry I can't seem to upload the the forum gallery.

Yeah that's the plug for the cam phase sensor......possibly a cut and shut to avoid removing the water pump as changing the phase sensor without loosening (at least) the water pump is difficult, if not impossible. Mind you as you need the cambelt off the change the sensor, doing the water pump at the same time isn't that much of a hardship. Unless you have running issues and the Engine Management Light on, I'd leave it alone.....unless you're planning a belt change anyway.
