Selespeed shfit problem

Hello Everybody,

I've been having the following problem on my 156 2.0 JTS Selespeed.

Sometimes, typically when the engine is hot, there is a shifting problem.
I press the gas pedal, car starts in 1st gear but does not shift to 2nd.
Display shows 1 then 3 (sometimes also R and beeps) but the car stays
in 1st gear.
With time I have figured out how to react: I release the gas pedal, display
is back to 1, then I press the gas pedal again, car shifts into 2nd gear as
expected (and then on to 3rd, 4th, 5th if I increase speed).
This happens typically in stop-and-go traffic, on congested streets, etc.
Sometimes it happens also between 2nd and 3rd gear (display shows 4, etc).
So the car always ends up behaving if I use the trick I mentioned above,
but the whole thing is irritating.
It's been going on for about a year; less so in the winter.
On the highway or unencumbered roads there is no problem.
Also it does not always happen.

The car is from 2005 and I heard that Selespeed on such late models is
good. The car always shifts down correctly. The pump sound is heard
for about 10 seconds when I first open the driver's door. There is no
selespeed oil leak.
The Alfa dealers tested it and said there is no problem in the selespeed
system. (Also the problem does not happen when they drive the car!)
They say it may be that the clutch disk is tired and slippery when hot.
Is this normal for a car with only 82000 km ?
On the other hand the mechanic in my neighborhood tested it and found
a P1742 error message. I reported it to the Alfa dealer but they don't
believe in this error (I suspect they do not know how to fix it!).

Now I'm confused and I do not know whom to trust and what to do...

82000 km can be just too much for the clutch asembly, especially the release bearing has a hard life in a sele,
mine went bang at 110k
