alfa 156 revving problem

hi there, imnew tot he site but look forward to posting and hopefully helping a few people! but im a bit stuck with this problem of mine!

i have a 1999 156 1.8, with 80k on the clock, car has full service history and well looked after by my father. i have just aquired the car and have noticed the car will not rev properly after 4 thousand rpm, the car stops pulling and gets all bumpy and will increase in revs very slowly even with full throttle. I have spoken to a couple of garages 2 see if its just something silly which it could be, ive had a garage tell me the wrong oil is in the car, but cant believe that.
please if anyone could help me out on this one, i would be really appreciative!

Re: alfa 156 revving problem

Wrong oil....don't go back to them!!!

Sounds like the air flow meter....or possible lambda.

True, its the oil from the filters, best to get a good one and not oil it, if you must use one at all. Loads of threads on this site about the subject.
