Re: Selespeed Pump Questions
Skillz, am still enjoying my ride....
And with regards to the connectors, I am experiencing some 'hiccups' with the Selespeed a few months ago. The gear change wasn't smooth, and it happens twice, that the clutch was release while in 1st gear whith the car stationary at stop lights. Did an Examiner Selespeed calibration, but its still the same.
Then I disconnect all the connectors at the actuator, spray clean with electronic contact cleaners, reconnect them nicely, and viola, everything seems to be OK now.
Just to side track a little, once my pump doesn't work and therefore I can't start the car, and this is happening intermittenly. And I trace the problem to the relay of the pump. The 50A (if not mistaken) relay is hard to find & expensive. So what I did was open up the plastic casing, and discovered that the contact point (of the main current) is dirty & not really touching (in contact) when I apply 12V DC to it (solenoid), and its due to the toggle and i bent it a little (no contact at 0 V), sandpaper the contacts and all OK ever after.
The relay's contact point are quite the same as those 'contact point' used in older cars with distributor / capacitor doscharge ignition.
(pardon me as am not really familiar with the technical terms of some parts)
