Yep, unfortunately Alfa is not the most reliable brand. If you want reliable, buy a Civic or a Focus which are (in that order) the most reliable cars in the class.
I'm assuming you did all your research before buying the car? So although you have every right to be pi**ed off, you shouldn't really be surprised. I certainly agree that it's not acceptable for a modern car to show the kind of problems that some Alfas still seem to suffer. Still, all manufacturers have issues and, for example, the 147 is no less reliable than a VW Golf according to industry stats. VW, however, have an excellent level of customer service and a PR machine second to none, so people tend not to be aware of the problems they have. And when they do have problems, the delaler takes good care and so you tend not to mind.
(The least reliable car i've ever had was a VW Polo)
On the bright side your car should be under warranty so the probs get fixed for free, and you only need contend with the shoddy dealer service. I swear, the sooner FIAT group line up the service managent team against a wall and shoot the useless bas***ds, the better! We might all be able to live with our cars' frigilities a little easier...
Actually, looking through my car's old paperwork, i've had virtually exatly the same parts replaced at the 2nd & 3rd yr service... Hey! Is there some kind of dealer conspiracy here? Get ARUK to fork out for a bit of work under warranty?
