Thats your problem...its a 4cyl petrol
Seriously though, there is very little to do to you petrol to make it respond better. You can make improvments, but they won't be as noticable as the diesels.
With your one, you could probably change the throttle body, increase the size of the inlet manifolds, sports exhaust, remap, different cams and valves. The problem is alot of this costs loads to do for a little provement. The biggest increase in performance would be a turbo, but I am not sure if anyone has turbo'ed a JTS before and whether its compatible with vvt??
A diesel would have been your better option. For everyday driving the diesels 'feel' considerably more responsive and often faster, though in outright performance, there is little to choose between them.
In addition to the standard diesel 'feeling' faster, its also possible to get 25% extra power and torque from it without increasing the emissions (soot) or increasing the consumption of fuel. Gains of 35% or more are often dirty beggers kicking out black smoke and questions are held over the longevity of the engine and in particular, the turbo (bearings getting too hot), clutch and geabox.
Back to your original post though and I am sure that other petrol modders will be able to give you some more input into increasing the JTS response.
