I'm pretty sure the light comes on before I even move, but it's worth a try, I'll report back when it is done tomorrow.
.... and here is the update. It doesn't come on straight away, but there are still occasional VDC errors.
It was POSSIBLY a loose connector on the Electronic throttle.
Getting to this stage had required a good workout of Multecuscan.
As suggested, checking that the steering angle was OK was the first job.
On Startup there were immediate EBD and VDC messages on the dash and on connection to MES in the ABS/VDC module there were 3 errors shown: Yaw Sensor & ABS system pressure & ABS failure.
Clear those errors, and have a look at Steering angle and yaw. - both zero. Move wheel, yes, 2.5 degree changes. Looks good.
Then a Motor control system failure came up, illuminating the Yellow Engine Alarm. Haven't seen that for a while, and it was interesting that it came up now while the Laptop was connected.
So, Shut down MES and disconnect and reconnect the standard cable for the Engine Computer. The error message gives the story about the throttle being the problem, possibly the connector, or errors caused from manually moving the butterfly.
Clear the error, but it returns. Shut down and reseat the connector.
This problem is entirely possible during the disassembly done during the Head Gasket replacement. I clean everything carefully and extensively, and I know I cleaned all the intake manifold. Mea Culpa. After clearing the error again in the Engine module (standard cable), and it returned, it was time to check the connector. It didn't feel loose, but a good wiggle was provided.
Clear errors again, (back on the ABS module and cable) and no errors. After a test drive, it went off after a few hundred metres, and after restarting, stayed off for a few minutes.
There has been no problem with the car or the throttle in many weeks, (other than the VDC error) so it is interesting that it needed the connector reseated to almost fix it.
So, some progress, but not completely fixed. Some of the error messages mentioned "learning". Perhaps I need some resets. Does anyone know what they would be?
I'd like to hear any additional suggestions. Thanks.
