HELP!! - My 156 is Dead!
Okay, a bit worried here so hoping someone can put me at ease.
I have a 2003 1.9 JTD 156.
I was driving her last night, all normal, nothing to report and parked up about 8.30pm.
I came out this morning to go to work, unlocked her with the button on my key and hopped in.
Turned the key and nothing, no lights, no sound, completely dead.
I think the battery came on for a second and then went off so I may have left it on by mistake but to the best of my knowledge it shuts itself off after an hour if not touched anyways.
I only changed the battery in the car about 6 months ago and I bought a stronger battery and she's had no trouble and I've had no starting trouble of any kind since.
I checked the battery connections and they're as tight as when I fitted it.
I noticed on the speedometer, the speed indicator was up at 160 which looks very weird, the clock had stopped also at the time I opened the car.
As I said, no sound when I turn the key whatsoever, and NO lights which I've never seen before.
The central locking worked to open the car, I hopped in turned the key, the radio came on for 2 seconds, then went off, no engine turning sound, no movement and no dashboard lights. She's just completely dead.
So could this be an immobiliser problem? Have I somehow activated it or something?
It's the only plausible thing I can think of. I bought the car second hand and to be honest, as silly as it sounds I'm not even sure if it has an immobiliser built in.
At work now so I won't be able to inspect the car again til later this evening.
Fwiw I have one key for the car, it's your standard two button fob with one central locking/unlocking button and a rear boot opener.
