HI ! my credentials are already in the members list, but here are some updates:
I am by far the oldest and possibly craziest AO member, I was born during the Battle of Britain (remember that one ?! NO, shame on you !
I am plane nut and car nut, which one comes first I have yet to find out.
I am on my 3d Alfa , drove Fiats before.. (literally all types from a 1958 500 to a Croma 2.0 turbo i.e.), father was a chief mechanic in a Fiat workshop (as is my brother).
Worked for Shell in IT for 33 years, last job: systems engineer.
Early retired in 1994 and doing the things I love ever since (driving my Alfa ,flying, diving , skiing ) at the moment part-time international courier for a logistics company. Bringing computer parts (mainly chips) all around the globe.
Just yesterday returned from Shannon Ireland, after delivering computer parts for Dell Limerick . Chartered a Metroliner and sat in the right pilot seat for over an hour and flew over the UK and part of Ireland before the co-pilot could hustle me out of his seat !
The Metroliner is a nice flying plane , very quirky on the controls, but you can fly it with one hand. Noisy as hell with those two Garret turboprops but it was great !
Flew back with Ryan air to Charleroy in Belgium, my Selespeed was in Brussels (Zaventem General aviation) so had to take a taxi to Brussels in a blinding snow storm... but was in Rijswijk. in my own bed at 0045.
Its a hell of a job but someone has to do it !
p.s. btw the Metroliner costed 8500 euro (including two pilots) for that one job !
p.p.s. most expensive car I have driven ? DB7. fastest one a Wiesmann spider (enormous BMW engine in a plastic body... a sure way to very early retirement !
