Some of the arguing on here is ridiculous; "Alfa changed rear brake disc size after 4 years in production because they think buyers will be attracted to a larger disc". Facepalm.
I have a 99 1.8ts and the braking has always been substandard. I am upgrading to 274 rear discs shortly. Why? Because I'm upgrading to drilled + grooved discs at the front and have the bigger caliper currently being refurbed and painted. I need new rear discs so may as well have new (refurbished + painted) calipers too. I will report back.
Personally I'm not too worried about the rear end lifting off the ground when I brake hard, ive heard this kind of thing is more common on a bike when you brake hard on the front!
