Its also a throttle position sensor aswell as an actuator, its essentially an auto electronic choke, it tells the ecu how many degrees the throttle is open by and this data is all apart of the fuel management.
On MES, go to perameters and check box the one for throttle position. It should be like 7 or 8% at idle when up to temp, I could be wro g on the figures, but mine was around that, and at full throttle (with engine off and key on) I think is near 95% or degrees (I cant recall) but I think that they are those figures.
Also, when driving, the temp needle should be bang on in the middle of the '9' of 90. And goes up just past the '0' then fan kicks in.
